Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle are just the latest celebrities calling on the streaming service giant Spotify to stop the spread of misinformation on its platform, despite the fact that they still have a nearly $20 million deal with the media provider.

According to Daily Mail, the royal couple will not be dropping their lucrative deal with Spotify even though they believe the platform has to make changes to stop the Covid-19 pandemic misinformation running rampant on the service, particularly on podcasts like The Joe Rogan Experience.

“Since the inception of Archewell, we have worked to address the real-time global misinformation crisis. Hundreds of people are affected by the serious harms of rampant mis- and disinformation every day,” the couple said in a statement Sunday via their charity Archewell.

“Last April, our co-founders began expressing concerns to our partners at Spotify about the all too real consequences of Covid-19 misinformation on its platform. We have continued to express our concerns to Spotify to ensure changes to its platform are made to help address this public health crisis.”

But even though Harry and Meghan disagree with the fact Spotify allows harmful misinformation to be spread on their platform, the two reportedly have no plans to cut their partnership with the company inked in 2020 and worth upwards of $20 million even though they’ve only produced one episode of a podcast.

As Radar previously reported, Neil Young called out Spotify last week threatening to remove his music from their service if they continued to do nothing about the blatant spread of misinformation on their platform.

“They can have Rogan or Young. Not both,” the Heart of Gold singer wrote in the letter Tuesday after calling out Rogan for his “spread of misinformation.” “With an estimated 11 million listeners per episode, The Joe Rogan Experience, which is hosted exclusively on Spotify, is the world’s largest podcast and has tremendous influence.”

“Spotify has a responsibility to mitigate the spread of misinformation on its platform, though the company presently has no misinformation policy. I want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform.”

Since then, Young made good on his promise and has since had his content removed from Spotify.

Other artists, such as Joni Mitchell, have also followed suit showing solidarity with Young regarding the dangers of the misinformation being shared on Joe Rogan’s podcast.

Iveonna Turner Charged With Murder After Unborn Fetus Lost

Iveonna Turner appears in a mugshot

An Alabama woman and college student who says she just wanted to pick up her child has been charged with killing another woman’s unborn fetus during an allegedly brutal fight last week.

Iveonna Samone Lashay Turner, 20, stands accused of one count of reckless murder over the incident that occurred on Jan. 24, 2022 in Dothan, Ala., the county seat of Houston County.

On the day in question, Dothan police say they responded to a disturbance call at the residence of the defendant’s ex-boyfriend, according to The Dothan Eagle. Turner and her ex reportedly share an infant child together. Citing witnesses allegedly on the scene, police say they were told the defendant and the pregnant woman got into an altercation or dispute that led to Turner punching and kicking the alleged victim multiple times in her stomach with her hands and feet.

According to local CBS/MyNetworkTV-affiliate WTVY, however, Turner claims she is the victim of an attack at the residence. In a protective order filed against her ex-boyfriend, the defendant says she was “jumped” when she arrived to pick up her baby.

In that protection order from abuse, filed in Houston County Court on Jan. 27, 2022, Turner says she was attacked by her ex and his mother–the woman who lost her child–as she tried to obtain custody of the 8-week-old infant. The order also request protection for the child.

Dothan police arrested the defendant after a medical examination determined the pregnant woman, said to be 37 years old, was left with an unviable fetus after the alleged fight with Turner. The expecting mother reportedly sought medical attention after she experienced abdominal pain following the incident. The details of what transpired prior to the alleged violence have yet to be made public.

Broader Alabama-focused news site Al.com, citing DPD Lieutenant Scott Owens, reports that Turner allegedly forced the pregnant woman to the ground and began striking her with specificity in the stomach.

“According to witnesses, she was focused on that area,” Owens alleged.

The fetus lost was reportedly early-term, according to WTVY.

In the Yellowhammer State, as of December 2016, a fetus is considered to be a person under the law regardless of its viability.

Turner was arrested and booked into the Houston County Jail on Friday. She is currently being detained on a $500,000 bond.

A reckless murder charge in the state is defined as “conduct which creates a grave risk of death to a person other than himself/herself, and thereby causes the death of another person” so long as such an act is committed recklessly “under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to human life.”

Under Alabama law, typical punishment for murder is generally 20 years to 99 years or life in prison with the possibility of parole. Certain circumstances, however, allow criminal defendants to be sentenced to death or life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Jail records reviewed by Law&Crime do not contain an attorney of record or a scheduled court date for Turner as of this writing.

A hearing on the protection abuse order request is currently slated for Feb. 10, 2022.

Cara Delevingne: Growing up queer was isolating

Cara Delevingne says growing up queer was “isolating and hard to navigate at times”.

The 29-year-old actress-and-model – who identifies as pansexual and has previously dated St. Vincent and Ashely Benson – is thankful that her older siblings, Poppy and Chloe, 35 and 36, respectively, were supportive but she admits she needed to navigate her sexuality for herself to find her true identity.

Speaking to The Sunday Times newspaper, she said: “Growing up as a queer child was isolating and hard to navigate at times. My sisters did their best to be there for me but it was something I had to go through myself to truly know who I was. I’m still on that journey and will continue to be for the rest of my life.”

Cara signed with Storm Management straight out of school and admits she was naive when she first started out in the modelling industry, but she has since come to “cherish” the fashion world.

She explained: “When I had my first modelling job at ten I wasn’t aware of what I was doing, or the fashion and artistry that I now understand and cherish. With any job or path there’s always a way to make some sort of change.”

The ‘Carnival Row’ star also admitted she’s always had a rebellious side and wants to “question” everything.

She added: “First and foremost I have always seen myself as a rebel, not as someone who wants to break rules but as someone who wants to question them. I love the word “naughty”, but only as an adult. To me naughty means someone who questions what they’re told. I think at this point I might be the naughtiest of the three of us.”

The blonde beauty previously admitted she felt “suicidal” whilst struggling with her sexuality when she was a teenager.

Cara spent her youth battling with internalised homophobia as she grew up thinking same-sex relationships were “disgusting”.

She explained how her “old-fashioned” upbringing made her think there was something wrong with her when she developed feelings for other women, and explained she was so “ashamed” of who she was she contemplated taking her own life.

She said: “I grew up in an old-fashioned household. I didn’t know anyone who was gay. I didn’t know that was a thing and actually, I think growing up I was quite not noticeably, I wasn’t knowledgeable of the fact I was homophobic. The idea of being same-sex [partners], I was disgusted by that, in myself. I was like, ‘Oh my God, I would never, that’s disgusting, ugh’.

“I do correlate the massive depression and the suicidal moments of my life [to that] because I was so ashamed of ever being that. But actually, that was the part of me that I love so much and accept.”

The ‘Life in a Year’ star even confessed there is “still a part” of her that “wishes” she was straight because of her “complicated” relationship with her sexuality.

She added: “There is still a part of me where I’m like, ‘Oh, I wish I could just be straight.’ There is still that side to it. It is really complicated.”
